Retro Reels Brings 1980s Movie Magic to Riverside Museum – A Free Exhibition for All
The exhibition features an extraordinary collection of replica props from some of the most iconic films of the decade. Highlights include George Lucas’ galactic movie saga, showcasing legendary intergalactic props; the Time-Traveling Doctor, complete with fan favourites such K9 and Daleks. A replica of the show-stopping DeLorean from Back to the Future. Visitors will also marvel at reproduction props from Gremlins and E.T., supplied by renowned prop maker Mike Hutchinson of Back to the 1980s Prop Hire.
Retro Reels is more than just a display – it’s an interactive experience. Over the 12-week run, families can enjoy themed activities, hands-on workshops, and trail sheets. There will be opportunities for children to take part in workshops inspired by their favourite films, meet characters from the Imperial Scottish Garrison, while adults can explore the cultural impact of 1980s cinema through talks and tours.
